     “Oh , by the way,” added Sardou, as he was shaking hands, “I forgot to tell you that M. Massenet is providing music to accompany the new work. French pieces have always lacked the support of music, and this, at least, we borrow from your own, ‘Macbeth’ and ‘Midsummer Night’s Dream.’ There the piracy begins and ends. Au revoir.”
