    Jules Massenet was not just a man of the opera house. In those days, ballets were as in demand at the opera houses as the operas. The following four ballets were written for Vienna, Paris and Monte Carlo.

bullet Espada (1908)

Unperformed

bullet Le Preneur des rats: project for a ballet with scenario by Théophile Gautier (1872). Refused by Halanzier, director of the Opéra.
bullet Les Filles de feu: project for a ballet, with scenario by Louis Gallet, announced for the Théâtre d'Opéra Populaire au Châtelet (1874), but apparently not written.
