Jules Massenet was a friend of many playwrights and in his 70 years was asked to write different types of music. From full complete works like “Les Érinnyes” to a song for Musette to sing in “La Vie de Bohème.”

Massenet was hired to compose the incidental music to Verne's stage version on his book, Michel Strogof. While many of Massenet's biographers, list this among his Œuvre, he did not do it. I know this because I purchased a copy of the script only to find that someone else had supplied the music.
