Background

Synopsis

     Angèle, about to become an abbess in Madrid, yields to temptation and attends a masked ball, where she falls in love with Horace of Massarene, a young nobleman.
     In hopes of meeting him again, she goes to another party, and is barely saved by her mask from exposure.
     After further complications, she is released from her vows by the Queen and is free to marry her lover.
