Background

Synopsis

     The Palace of Haroun in Cairo. Haroun believes that he is incapable of love, but he is truly loved by Djamileh, one of his slaves. When he givers her her freedom, she reappears in disguise, and when he recognizes her, she says she prefer his love to liberty. Impressed by this, Haroun yields his love.
